Five warzones. Five colossal enemies. One mech standing between humanity and annihilation.

The next evolution of DANMAKU has arrived. Climb into your 32 × 32 combat mech and fight your way through five scrolling warzones packed with hostile drones, jet-mechs, walkers and heavily armoured enemies. At the end of each battlefield, a giant mech awaits.

• NEO CITY: Face GOLIATH amid glowing rivers, flowing roads and twinkling city lights.
• THE WASTES: Fight your way through the barren battlefield against WARHOUND.
• THE FORTRESS: Break through the defences and confront SERAPH.
• SKYPORT: Battle through the skies to meet LEVIATHAN.
• THE CORE: Enter the final warzone and challenge ARCHANGEL.

Each stage brings another fight, another giant target and another chance to prove your mech is the ultimate weapon.

Firepower: Your Way

Tap fire for rapid shots, or hold it to unleash the powerful lock beam. The beam hits harder, but slows your movement, forcing you to choose between firepower and agility.

Destroy enemies to collect power-ups and gems. Gather blue P pickups to fill your power meter, or grab a gold Big P for an instant power-level upgrade.

Your weapon evolves through five levels. Higher levels expand your shot patterns, add more firing streams and increase firing speed. Keep collecting to build a devastating arsenal!

GUARD! Turn Their Bullets Against Them.

When the screen fills with enemy fire, activate your GUARD barrier for two seconds. Every bullet on screen is swallowed, scoring points and converting every four bullets into a gem.

You begin with three guards, and every 25 P pickups earns another. Use them wisely to survive the fiercest barrages and turn enemy fire into treasure.

Keep the HIT Chain Alive

Destroy enemies in quick succession to build your HIT chain. The longer it lasts, the more each kill is worth. Keep moving, keep firing and keep the score climbing.

Lose a life, however, and your weapon drops a power level. Every mistake costs you firepower, so stay sharp.

Choose Your Challenge

• EASY: Fight through every stage once.
• MEDIUM: Complete two runs, with the second faster and more aggressive.
• HARD: Complete both runs on a single life.

Watch the battlefield glow as rivers and roads flow beneath you. Your mech banks into turns, its foot jets flicker, and enormous explosions shake the ground—including the spectacular destruction of the giant mechs.

MECHRA is a vertical-scrolling mecha shooter and sequel to DANMAKU, built for the ZX Spectrum Next in NTC BASIC.

Runs at 50 frames per second in the emulator. Real-hardware testing has not yet been performed.
